What are we?
A self-help voluntary organisation of retired and semi-retired people meeting to take part in learning, leisure and physical activities. All our activities are organised by our members. Our present membership is 250+, and new members are always welcome. We have at least two activities taking place each weekday with breaks for main holidays.
What do we do?
There is a monthly talk on a topic of general interest, often given by a visiting speaker.
In addition to this there are 15 - 20 groups, meeting on a regular basis during the month, which cover a wide range of activities.
More groups will be added as members’ interest and expertise develop. Perhaps you could start one!
Who can be a member?
Anyone who is retired or semi-retired. There are no age or geographic limits although most members are from Chorley and District. Dual membership of U3A groups is possible.
What does it cost?
Membership for 2010/11 is £7.50 per year and is renewed annually at the February AGM. The subscription includes a quarterly U3A magazine.
Prospective members may attend two meetings, at no cost, prior to joining.
Group meetings are 30p a session, plus £1 if rooms are hired. Where transport is required for activities groups share cars and costs. Coaches are sometimes used for long distances so having a car is not essential.
